The Greene County Rams claimed the title in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference with a 9-1 victory over the Saydel Eagles in Jefferson Wednesday. The Rams are 15-0 in the conference. CMB is in second place with four losses. With only three games remaining on the conference schedule, the Rams have locked up their first place position.
In Wednesday’s game pitcher Marissa Promes struck out eight batters and walked one. She allowed one earned run on seven hits.
The Rams took the lead early, with three runs in the first inning and six in the second. Sophomore Hannah Promes, who missed the early part of the season due to an injury during the basketball season, played first base for the injured Hannah Onken. The younger Hannah got two hits that netted five runs for the Rams. Emily Christensen had three hits for two RBIs and Tressa Rasmussen’s three hits brought in one run. Emma Saddoris had a hit and one RBI.
The Rams are 25-5 overall. They host the Roland-Story Norsemen in Jefferson July 2.
